Faculty of Arts School of Languages & Linguistics

Research Grants in Aid

The Grants in Aid scheme aims to enhance the research profile of the School of Languages and Linguistics by encouraging, as widely as possible, research likely to develop into grant applications or activities which will lead to completion of a larger project (or a particular phase of a project).

Grants of up to $2,000 are available either as 'stand alone' grants or as 'top up' financial assistance for various internally funded grants.

If you are applying for the Faculty Publication Subsidy, you must submit a Grant in Aid application to receive the matching funds from the School. The Grant in Aid application will effectively be an application for matching funds in this case. The deadline for both schemes in round 2, 2009 is 11th September.

How to apply

To apply, please download the application form and eligibility guidelines (doc, 107kb), complete the application form in accordance with the guidelines, seek signature from Head of School, and then submit the original application plus 4 copies to Gavin Nebauer, Room 513, Arts Centre, by the applicable round deadline listed below.

2009 Closing dates

Applicants who have previously received Grants in Aid funding are reminded that project reports should be submitted within one year from the date that the funding is granted. Please download and complete the project report form (doc, 85kb) and submit it to Gavin Nebauer before applying for funding for your next project.
