Seuils et traverses (French version)
The 2008 Borders & Crossings / Seuils et Traverses Conference on travel writing and tourism studies will mark the tenth anniversary of the bilingual English/French conference series inaugurated in Derry in 1998. Subsequent conferences have been held in France, Turkey, Great Britain and Italy, and we are pleased to announce that the first non-European conference in the series will be held in Australia.
The programme includes papers on a wide range of topics related to travel writing and tourism studies and a variety of disciplines, including cultural geography, anthropology, history, literature and the creative arts. The theme of “Time in Travel Writing and Tourism Studies” will be explored throughout the conference.

This conference will be followed by the inaugural Melbourne Festival of Travel Writing from 19-20 July 2008, including presentations by local and international travel editors and authors, food and travel writers, freelance journalists and travel bloggers. Travel writing workshops are also available.
