Workspaces for Postgraduate Students

School of Languages & Linguistics

PhD and MA (by research) students studying in the School of Languages and Linguistics are eligible to apply for a workspace within the School. Students interested in lodging an application should read the application guidelines (pdf) and then download and complete the Postgraduate (Research) Workspace application form (.doc).

Applications can be lodged at anytime with the School's Postgraduate Administrator, however applications for consideration at the Postgraduate Workspace Allocation Meeting must be received by no later than 31st March in any given year. Workspaces will be allocated on an annual basis. If a space becomes vacant during the year, all applications on a waiting list and held on file will be reviewed and the workspace allocated. If there is no appropriate applicant, interim applications will be called via email sent to all enrolled postgraduate (research) students.

The Faculty has a limited number of postgraduate study spaces available, upon application.

Graduate Centre

The Graduate Centre offers study carrels providing study space for postgraduate students. The Postgraduate Association administers the carrels on behalf of the Graduate Centre.

Other Facilities

Mail boxes

The School will provide you with a shared location (mail box) for incoming mail. You may also send mail to recipients within the campus via the University’s internal mail service.

Photocopying

Photocopying facilities are available to students at the University. The School can issue reimbursement of photocopying expenses as follows:

Note: Students who upgrade from MA to PhD will receive a maximum of $300 during the combined period of candidature. To claim reimbursement for photocopying, students should submit their original receipts (minimum $60, maximum $120) to the School's finance officer. No reimbursement will be made during the student's final month of candidature.

Dial-In access

Departments offer research postgraduates 240 hours of internet dial-in access per year. Contact the School to arrange access.
